2. Side effects of steroids and immunosuppressants Nephrotic syndrome patients may take steroids and immunosuppressants to cope with the kidney disease. However, both steroids and immunosuppressants have severe side effects that are another reason causing leg and hand cramping.

3. Calcium deficiency Massive proteinuria is a common symptom of nephrotic syndrome. Calcium can combine with albumin in the proteinuria easily, which results calcium deficiency. And calcium deficiency can cause leg and hand cramping.

4. Disturbance of blood circulation Leg and hand cramping may be cause by disturbance of blood circulation. Kidneys have a close link with blood circulation. Blood circulation supplements enough blood and oxygen to kidneys, while kidneys are responsible for cleansing blood. With nephrotic syndrome, kidney can’t do its work normally, so less blood flow to kidneys and some other organs. This is another reason for cramps.
